My Best Friend During Finals Week

Finals week. We meet again...

A week associated with hours in the library, lack of sleep, endless cups of coffee, and dark under-eye circles. Yay for dark under-eye circles -_______-

During finals week, I'm focused on mainly studying and preparing myself for my finals; however, I still care about not going out looking like a zombie who has just risen from the ground.

For the dark circles that have developed ever since I started going to college, I use Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in Radiant. It has become my best friend, especially during finals week. I love it so much!! It's better than the YSL Touche Eclat Concealer, which costs over 3 times more. It covers the darkness under my eyes and makes me look awake, even when I've been studying for hours after having only a few hours of sleep the night before.

I really can't express how much I love this product through just text. Maybe a song would be more appropriate....

One problem about that though. Considering my go-to freestyle rap is "My name is Lisa, it rhymes with pizza", I don't think I can do this concealer justice by writing a song about it on the spot. BUT it definitely is song worthy because it is THAT AMAZING!

If you are looking for a brilliant under-eye concealer, this is your product!!!

Good luck on your finals!

Morning Routine

Good morning!

Lately, I’ve been making sure I wake up a tad earlier than usual so I would have time to properly get ready for the day ahead instead of rushing to get my hair washed and end up not washing out all of the conditioner out of my hair.

Here is my morning routine that will get me nice and clean and out the door within 45 minutes max!

1. Shower Time!
I don’t use a very special brand of shampoo and conditioner because those tend to be too expensive for my college budget. Gotta save money when I can! I use Garnier Fructis Volume Extend Fortifying Shampoo and Conditioner. I prefer shampoos and conditioners that provide volume because it’s like a push-up bra for hair, and with my limp hair, I need all of the help I can get!

Once a week, I use Macadamia Deep Repair Mask. This. Product. Smells. Amazing. They need to make an air freshener in this scent because it smells INCREDIBLE!! I got a sample of this at an Ulta event, and I’ve been using it ever since then. I’m debating on whether or not I should buy the actual product when I run out of the sample. Maybe not, because it’s $30 a jar, and like I said before, I’m a college student that has to spend thousands on tuition and books every quarter. Until then, I’m just going to savor the sample!

While I let the mask soak in, I wash my body with Bath & Body Works Paris Amour Shower Gel with this exfoliating sponge that I buy at Bed, Bath & Beyond. The shower gel has a very romantic but not heavy scent to it that I really like. I think I buy products based on their scent too often…

2. Clean Face = Happy Lisa!
After I’ve gotten out of the shower, dry off, and wrap my wet hair in a towel, it’s time to exfoliate my face! For YEARS now, I’ve been using St. Ive’s Invigorating Apricot Scrub. It’s nothing fancy that you would get at Lush; it’s actually very inexpensive. The thing that I like about it is that it works. As you are scrubbing your face, you can feel yourself scrubbing away any nastiness on your face. I’ve gone through SOOOO many tubes of this product! I don’t think beauty gurus talk about this product enough!

Then, I use Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner with a cotton pad once I’ve rinsed and dried my face. Another inexpensive and amazing product! After using it a few times, I noticed that my pores were smaller than before! What makes this toner wonderful is something that it doesn’t have: alcohol. Toners with alcohol strip away the natural oils of your face and can actually do damage to your face rather than clean it.

To finish off, I usually moisturize with Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer SPF 30.

What's your morning routine? Comment below telling me what products you like to use to start your day :)

Going Out Naked

Don’t worry. The title of this blog doesn’t mean to go out with absolutely no clothes on!! I don’t endorse that type of stuff!

What I mean is going out with a naked makeup look!

For Spring, a constant trend has been every year has been natural and naked looks. The naked makeup look is all about looking like you have not a single ounce of makeup on. You can achieve this look by literally going out with no makeup on or by secretly wearing makeup even though it looks like you are not ;)

Because going out with no makeup on is a no-no for many people, here is a list of products from high-end to drugstore to use to get that trendy nude look without being naked. All of the products listed below are products that I have tried and would highly recommend.

Review: Nivea Lip Butter

I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!

I have been looking for these EVERYWHERE for months now, and they finally have it at a local Target store! I bought it in Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss for about $3.

Packaging: I love the packaging, but at the same time, I hate it. Love it because I think it is so adorable. I love the matte finish of the tin; it reminds me of an old-fashioned product. Hate it because in general, I don’t really like lip products where I would have to use my finger to apply the product onto my lips. If your finger is not 100% clean, outside substances can get onto the product, making it look dirty. Also, there is always a bit of product on your finger after you apply it, leaving you to wipe the remains on some random surface.

Scent: This lip butter smells INCREDIBLE. I wish technology was advanced enough for me to somehow send the smell to you through my blog. It smells like a rich vanilla custard or crème with a hint of nuttiness. Absolutely delectable.

Texture: The texture of this product is like the texture of butter that has been taken out of the fridge 10 minutes ago. It’s not soft enough for you to make a dent in it when you touch it. You would have to swirl your finger around it a bit to get enough product to put on your lips.

Quality: Because it’s described as a lip butter, I was hoping it would be incredibly moisturizing; however, it’s not. It does moisturize your lips a bit, but because it is a tad waxy, it does not moisturize your lips for a long period of time, especially if the weather outside is cold and dry. Possibly, during the summer time, the amount of moisture this product provides is enough, but of course, that depends on what the climate is like where you live.

Overall: The Nivea Lip Butters are good, but not craze worthy. The only great thing about it is that it smells unbelievably incredible. There are better lip butters out there, but they are much more expensive than the Nivea Lip Butters. If you are looking for an inexpensive lip butter, than you should try this and see if it works well for you.

Meeting the Ex Makeup

Lately, I’ve really loved “I Knew You Were Trouble” by Taylor Swift. It has such an edgy feel to it. I also love the way Taylor performs it. She is basically giving the message of “Yea, I liked you before, and yea you treated me wrong. That part is over! I’ve moved on now and am better without you!” The best part of her performance is how gorgeous and sexy she looks, which adds to her message.

That’s right, Harry Styles! It’s okay though. I still love you! ;D

I’m sure lots of girls can relate to this song. I can sure relate! There was that guy you really liked to the point where you would find yourself doing crazy things for him, whether it was flying yourself to new places to see him or running after him after school to give him a deep fried twinkie just because you want to see him (I’m not proud of myself -_____-)

Then he puts you down and makes you feel like a complete joke.

Time then passes, and there may come the time when you are about to see him again at a party or whatever. You now want him to think “Dang it! I was wrong for treating her that way! Look at her. She’s moved on, is successful now, and absolutely beautiful. I was such a fooooool!!” or something along the lines of that ;)

Here is a makeup guide to follow to make him feel that regret. Enjoy!

Start off with a natural and light foundation like Revlon Narely Naked Foundation. Apply this foundation with a damp makeup sponge. If needed, conceal: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer for blemishes and Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer for under your eyes. Take a tissue, and gently blot under your eyes to prevent the concealer from creasing and around your face to remove the oils of your face to reduce shine.

To create romantic and sexy eyes, pat L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Amber Rush (a gorgeous rose gold color) onto your eyelids and then blend out the edges. Take a black eye shadow like Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Blackout and push the eye shadow into your upper lash line to create the illusion of fuller lashes. Curl your lashes, and apply a coat of Maybelline The Falsies Mascara.

If there was any eye shadow drop-off, go over the areas with a bit of foundation. Powder your face with Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent. This powder is the only powder I own… It’s that good. Give yourself a beautiful flushed look by applying a tad bit a blush on the apples of your cheeks (Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface for fair skin tones, Benefit Coralista Blush for medium skin tones, NYX Powder Blush in Cinnamon for dark skin tones).

Finish it all off with lips he will desire using MAC Viva Glam V Lipstick!

Now, I don't have an ex that I despise to do this makeup style, but I do know of a few guys from my past that, well.....

.... let's just say this makeup tutorial will come in handy when I meet up with them ;D

Until next time!

February Beauty Favorites

Wow. March already? It seems like yesterday when I started the quarter, and now I’m studying for finals! Crazy how time flies by so fast when you are in college! (Tip for those who are in high school currently, enjoy every minute of it!) Besides that, here are a few products from those I’ve discovered to those that I’ve rediscovered that I’ve loved during February.

Nivea A Kiss of Milk and Honey

This stuff is amazing!!! I learned about it last year from Ingrid (aka missglamorazzi) in her September favorites video where she raved about it, so I decided to go out and get it. At first, I didn’t really like the scent of the lip balm because I’m not a big fan of honey-scented lip balms (like Burt’s Bees); however, I got used to the smell. I was like “You know what, Lisa? This stuff is too good to throw away, so get used to the smell!!” This lip balm is the type of lip balm that you only have to apply once and it will keep your lips hydrated for HOURS!!

This is a product that I’ve rediscovered in February, and let me tell you the story behind why.

STORY TIME, BOYS AND GIRLS!

One day, while walking back from class last year, my original Nivea A Kiss of Milk & Honey slipped out of my jean pocket and rolled away. I kind of had a feeling that it slipped out of my pocket, but I was like “Naw. It’s ok. I won’t even look back and see if it did roll away. If it did, whatever.” I should have looked back. For the next couple of months, my lips were CHAPPED even though I did use other types of lip balms that were not as good as my Nivea lip balm. This month, I bought it again, and now I’m a happy camper. THE END!

Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer SPF 30

Because for some reason SoCal decided to be 89 degrees Fahrenheit this month, I’ve barely used foundation. Instead, I’ve been applying only Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer onto my face. Liberally, I might add, because my skin is so sensitive to the sun. It gives the face a healthy glow, which is very appropriate for warm Spring and Summer days, while protecting your skin. Yay for healthy and glowing skin!

To wrap things up, here is my...

Product of the Month

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in Nude

I call this the “waterline concealer”. This has become my best friend, especially on days where I’m feeling tired from staying up late the night before studying or blowing bubbles with dish soap in the kitchen with friends (yes, instead of partying on a Saturday night, my friends and I blow bubbles at 1am). I just pop this onto my lower waterline and it covers the slight redness from being tired and instantly makes me look more awake.

This eyeliner really is waterproof. It will not budge!! I would buy it in black too, but I already have a black pencil eyeliner that I would like to use up before I buy a new one. If you currently do not own a black eyeliner, go get this product in black!!!! I cannot believe it is only $4 at Ulta when the quality of it is much better than most expensive black eyeliners.

Thanks for reading! What have been some of your favorite beauty products of this month?

REVIEW: Maybelline Color Whisper

I have been hearing a lot of things about Maybelline’s Color Whisper collection from numerous people on blogs and in YouTube videos. I was at Ulta the other day, and I decided I would see what the hype was all about, so I picked up one of the Color Whispers in Mocha Muse. Now that I’ve used it for a week now, I can give a proper review of this new craze.

Finish: When I first applied it onto my lips, it had like a wet appearance to it, but not exactly wet like a lip gloss.

Color: Nude, pinky brown. The color is very wearable, perfect for an everyday natural look.

Pigmentation: It gives a slight hint of color, which is exactly what the product claims to do; however, you would have to apply several coats to achieve some color payoff with this shade since it is such a natural shade. I’m sure brighter and bolder colors in the line show more easily on the lips without multiple coats.

Texture: Though it says that it does not include any “heavy waxes”, it does have a slightly waxy texture. This product won’t be moisturizing enough for dry, cold weathers though, but for me, it is moisturizing enough for cool and warm Southern California days. Because of its texture, this product would hold up and not melt if you popped it in your purse and carried it around with you on a hot day.

Longevity: The Color Whisper products do not last very long. If you want the color to be on your lips for a long period of time, you would have to reapply every 1-2 hours.

Overall Thought: I like the Color Whisper range by Maybelline, especially Mocha Muse. I have been wearing it nonstop every single day so far! It’s wonderful for a college student who is always on the go like me! It is perfect for adding a light hint of color for Spring and Summer. This may be my staple lip product for the next two seasons!
